How Tiers Are Decided

A tier is a band of trade value adjusted for how readily an item actually moves. We start from the published value, which is read from real player-to-player trades, then account for demand: an item that finds a buyer in minutes is worth more in practice than one with the same nominal value that nobody is asking for.

That is why two items with similar raw values can land in different bands. S covers the items at the top of the market — high value and consistently wanted. D covers starter items that trade for very little and are easy to replace. The bands in between shade gradually rather than snapping at fixed thresholds, because demand is part of the judgement.

The list is re-checked whenever values are re-checked, and always after a major update. An item can move a band when a change in supply or a new release reprices the items around it.

What a Tier List Cannot Tell You

A tier compresses a lot into one letter, and some things do not survive the compression. It cannot tell you what to trade for next, because that depends on what you already hold and what you are building toward. Two players with the same B-tier brainrot should often make opposite decisions with it.

It also says nothing about timing. A B-tier item that is climbing is a better hold than an A-tier item that is falling, and the letter does not show direction — the trend indicator on each item page does.

And it is not a power ranking. Tiers here reflect trade value and how easily an item moves, not how much it earns per second in game. A high-income brainrot that almost everybody owns can sit well below a lower-income one that is scarce.

Finally, an item with no confirmed trade value has no tier. Recently released brainrots appear on the items page with both fields blank until enough real trades exist to place them.

Tier List — Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often does the tier list change?

We re-check it whenever we re-check values, and always after a major update. In a typical week a few items shift one band; a wholesale reshuffle only follows a change in the game itself.

  • Why is an item I own missing from the list?

Either it has no confirmed trade value yet — in which case it has no tier either — or it is not something players trade. Both cases still have a full page on the items list.

  • Is S tier always the best thing to trade for?

Not always. S-tier items are the hardest to acquire and the slowest to move on again. If you are trying to build up quickly, a set of liquid A and B items can serve you better than one S item you cannot trade.

  • Do tiers account for how much an item earns in game?

No. Tiers are about trade value and how readily an item moves. In-game income per second is shown on each item page, and the two frequently disagree.

  • Who decides the tiers?

We do, from the same trade data behind the published values, following the process set out on our editorial standards page. No item is placed higher because someone paid for it.

The tier list is a summary. These pages hold the detail behind it.
